CWO Elects New Diocesan Officers

The Catholic Women Organization of Jalingo Diocese has elected new officers who will pilot the affairs of the organization for a period of four years. The election which took place at a recent congress held at the premises of St John’s secondary school Mutum-Biyu saw the women electing their leaders with Diocesan chaplain, Very Rev Fr Geoffrey Gashi, directing.

During the election Peace Abraham, from Zing deanery emerged the President, Theresa S. John from Bali deanery as Vice President, Mary Matthew Bake of Jalingo deanery as secretary and Magdalene Okoli of Takum deanery assistance secretary. Also elected is Rebecca Apaji of Wukari deanery as treasurer, Monica Peter of Our Lady Queen of Peace deanery as financial secretary, Charity Tumba from Bali deanery as PRO, Felicia Akpan from Mutum-Biyu deanery auditor, Magdalene John, also of Mutum-Biyu deanery was elected Provost, Tina Kalako of Our Lady Queen of Peace deanery as deputy provost and Rose Christopher the immediate past Diocesan president from Bali as Kaka.

The CWO Diocesan chaplain Very Rev Fr Geoffrey Mary Gashi thanked the past officers for successfully tasked them to be women of exemplary life whose manner of lives could be emulated by the other women. He called on them to strengthen the bonds between them and to settle amicably whatever differences that may ensue in the course of their work.

Similarly the Liturgist Catholic Diocese of Jalingo and the priest In-Charge of Saint Theresa’s Pastoral Area, NTA, Rev. Fr Innocent Daloba has tasked members of the Catholic Women Organization, CWO, to give their best to God. Fr Innocent Daloba gave the charge recently, in a Workshop that was organized by the CWO members and held in the Conference Hall of St Charles Borromeo Pastoral Center, Mile Six Jalingo.

Addressing the members, Fr Daloba said, “My dear mothers, and members of the CWO, try as much as possible to give your best to God. Before giving your best to God, you have to make up your mind and be fully prepared for God’s assignment. In carrying out Gods mission, you have to be obedient to the liturgical worship which is part of the doctrine of the Catholic Church. The Liturgy is an official worship of God in the Christian Church,” he said. The Diocesan Women Sr Adviser, Rev. Sr Mirabel exhorts the CWO members to be united, adding that as Christians, “Life is unity, unity gives freedom, unity makes you united, and you need unity to achieve your goal,” she stressed.

Sr Mirabel affirmed that by giving your best to God, “you pray with a purpose and it is not the quantity of prayer that matters, but it’s the quality. When praying to the creator, you have to seek his face you must have an intention before praying. . You should know the type of words to use when praying,” she exhorted.  The Sr Adviser further charged the CWO members to Love selflessly, according to her, “Love without repay, Love until it hurts, once you love with all your heart you may either be loved by the person you love or by others.”

She tasked them to always be at peace with one another and to trust God adding that where there is peace there will always be love even as he said as Christians the CWO members should be carriers of peace, “Once you love with all your heart you may either be loved by the person you love or by others she said, adding that where there is peace there will always be love”
